Last week’s Stockton Junior High Basketball action saw the Tigers hosting Hill City on Tuesday and then competing in the 2022 Mid-Continent Elementary League Basketball Tournament on Thursday. In their game against the Ringnecks, Stockton’s A-Team girls were defeated 11-38, and the B Team fell in a close one, 7-8.

Lady Tigers win season opener against the Russell Broncos

The Stockton Lady Tigers opened their season with an exciting, 41-40 win over the Russell Broncos last Friday in Russell. The Lady Tigers led 5-3 after the first quarter, were tied 14-14 with the Lady Broncos at halftime. Stockton trailed 19-27 going into the final eight minutes, but a big 22-point fourth quarter earned them the onepoint win. Thirteen of those points came from the free throw line as the Lady Tigers were successful on 13 of 18 attempts in the final period.

Tigers do well at Christmas City Wrestling Classic

The Stockton High School wrestlers were on the road to WaKeeney last Saturday for the Christmas City Wrestling Classic hosted by Trego Community High School. Ashlyn Hahn, who is ranked in the state, dominated her opponents as she wrestled her way to a first-place finish at 120 lbs.

Dennis Tucker to be honored in Damar on Thursday, Dec. 8

Longtime USD 269 teacher and coach, Dennis Tucker, will be remembered and honored this Thursday, December 8, during halftime of the Logan-Palco vs. Natoma Junior High A Boys basketball game. Action between the two teams begins at 4:00 p.m.

Pre-Season Basketball Tournament schedule

The 2022 Pre-Season Basketball Tournament will be held this year in Osborne, with Lakeside, Stockton, Thunder Ridge and the host Bulldogs competing. Games will be held Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, December 6, 8 and 10.

The schedule of games is as follows:

Tuesday, December 6

Game 1 at 3:30 p.m.: Thunder Ridge vs. Lakeside (Girls)

Game 2 at 5:00 p.m.: Thunder Ridge vs. Lakeside (Boys)

Game 3 at 6:30 p.m.: Osborne vs. Stockton (Girls)

Game 4 at 8:00 p.m.: Osborne vs. Stockton (Boys)

The 2022-23 Stockton High School Wrestling Season is set to open this Saturday when the Tigers travel to Trego for tournament action beginning at 10:00 a.m. Coach Clint Bedore and his assistants Justin Basart and Tyler Hahn return two state placers from last year.
