The Stockton Tiger boys were in Beloit last Friday and Saturday for the Beloit Invitational wrestling tournament. Cameron Balthazor, Emerson Lowry and Ryan Mongeau all competed, but didn’t end up making the podium. Balthazor went 0-2, Lowry was 2-2 and Mongeau 1-2.

For the second time this season, Stockton’s Ashlyn Hahn was named Most Outstanding Wrestler for her efforts on the mat at the Nickerson Invitational last Friday. Hahn (120) went 5-0 on the day, winning each match with a fall, to improve to 19-1 overall.

The 2023 Powerlifting season opened for the Tiger powerlifters on Saturday, January 14, with the Blue Ace Power Invitational. The Tigers competed virtually, with sophomore Cason Iwanski earning a second-place medal for his efforts.

Emerson Lowry stood atop the podium at the Buzz Matson Invitational held in Oberlin last Saturday, after wrestling his way to a first-place finish at 126 lbs. Lowry went 3-0 on the day to move his record to 10-9 on the season.

The Stockton Junior High Wrestling Team will open its season this Thursday when they go to Plainville. Action is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.

The Stockton High School Girls Wrestling Team enjoyed a successful day in Hays last Saturday, when Ashlyn Hahn captured the 120-lb. weight class, winning by falls in all three of her matches, after a first-round bye. Hahn is now 14-1 on the season.

In a game which lasted one hour and 49 minutes, Stockton Lady Tigers were able to hold on to defeat the visiting Victoria Lady Knights by the score of 51-44 last Tuesday at Tiger Gymnasium. The Lady Tigers jumped out to an impressive 21-10, first quarter lead over Victoria thanks, in part, to three treys by Bodye Stithem and one by Brooke Kephart.

The play-in games for the 2023 Mid-Continent League Basketball Tournament were held last Saturday afternoon and evening in Stockton. Both Tiger teams played, with the Lady Tigers, who are seeded ninth, taking on eighth-seeded Oakley, and the 12th-seeded Stockton boys playing Trego, the tourney’s fifth seed.

Five members of the Stockton Wrestling Club traveled to Ellis on Saturday, January 14, to compete in the Ellis Open. At the end of the day, three wrestlers placed in the Top 4.

The Stockton Lady Tigers captured a 46-22 win over the Hill City Lady Ringnecks last Friday in Hill City. It was the second win in a row for the Stockton girls as they defeated the Victoria Lady Knights on Tuesday of last week.
