THE STOCKTON AREA UNITED FUND TELETHON, which used to take place in the fall, raised funds for several community organizations. Who remembers when local talent performed in the American Legion Building? Eventually, the telethon moved to the St. Thomas Parish Center, where a camera crew from PBS Station KOOD filmed the show for Channel 7. Audiences were always in for surprises at this event! In the 1980s, even the King, himself, Elvis Presley made an appearance to perform one of his big hits, 'Hound Dog.' If you look closely, you’ll see that the Elvis impersonator was actually Rita Sander, who served on the telethon committee for many years.
