COVID-19 booster vaccines are available for Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson per CDC guidelines. The Rooks County Health Department in Stockton will provide COVID-19 vaccines on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m.

Has this latest cold spell left you needing a coat? If so, the Coat Exchange program is up and running once again on the first floor of the Rooks County Courthouse. Anyone can either pick out a coat or donate coats to this worthwhile program.

All roads will lead to Damar this Saturday for the 2021 St. Joseph’s Church Homecoming Bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 6th, at Richland Township Hall in Damar.

The Craft Basket in Alton was formed in the early 80’s when a few artisans from the Alton area decided to form a group to sell their handmade items. With the help of the Alton PRIDE, they were successful in attaining the community room for two months during the holiday season. Today they celebrate 34 years as they get ready to open for the 2021 season on Saturday, November 6th.

The menus for the week beginning Monday, November 1st, are as follows: Monday—Swiss steak, rice, green beans, bread, pears. Tuesday— Closed for Election Day. Wednesday—Meatballs with gravy, baked potato, seasoned carrots, bread, strawberries. Thursday— Taco salad, mexicali corn, chips, peaches. Friday— Pulled pork, coleslaw, brownie, bun, mixed fruit.

The Stockton VFW Post 8873 and Auxiliary are encouraging everyone to get out and vote on November 2nd! Honor a veteran’s service by casting your ballot, and then help the veterans with their projects by coming to the VFW from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and enjoy a lunch of ham and beans with a mouth-watering, warm chunk of cornbread, or chicken and noodles, dessert and drink. The cost of the meal is $7.00.

The annual Lord’s Acre event will be held on Wednesday, November 3rd, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Stockton United Methodist Church, 204 North Elm, offering dine-in, carry-out, or home delivery. Volunteers will be serving homemade chili soup, chicken noodle soup, green bean dumpling soup, sandwiches, pie, and cinnamon rolls.

The 2021 St. Joseph’s Church Homecoming Bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 6th, at Richland Township Hall in Damar. The afternoon event will begin at 4:00 p.m. with Mass at the church, followed by a Free-Will Donation Social Hour at 5:00 p.m. at the Hall. Dinner will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. and will consist of pulled pork, cheesy potatoes, corn, salad, dessert and a drink. The cost is $12.00 for Adults; $6.00 for Children 5 through 12; and FREE for Children 4 and Under. Also starting at 5:30 p.m. will be Kids Games and Prizes! Two dollars ($2.00) will buy a ten-game punch card and $6.00 will buy an unlimited fun card! The raffle prize drawings will be held at 7:30 p.m. along with a LIVE Auction of a very clean and well-maintained 2003 Toyota Tacoma SR5 pickup with a 4x4 automatic transmission and 75,000 miles. (This is a memorial donation from the Gene and Anna Mae Normandin family with the sale proceeds to go to the bazaar fund.) The Dedication of the Veterans Memorial at the Stockton City Cemetery will be held on Thursday, November 11th at 2:00 p.m. This memorial, which was spearheaded by the VFW Auxiliary, will mark the veterans area of the cemetery and will be a lasting tribute to all those that served our country. Please make plans to attend.
