Fort Hays State University will hold its spring commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 14, and Saturday, May 15.

Condolences to the Breckenridge and Bartholomew families in the passing of their aunt, Elma Auchard, 100 years of age, of Bryan, Ohio. Elma graduated from Woodston High School with the Class of 1938. Her sister, Wilma Bartholomew, preceded her in death.

Rooks County currently has no active cases of COVID-19 in the county. This week the absenteeism rate is at 0.0% above the baseline from 2019- 2020. The positive testing rate is at 3.1% this week.

Last Sunday it was mostly sunny with highs in the mid 70s. Monday the high was in the 50s with partly cloudy skies. Tuesday had partly sunny skies and the highs in the mid 50s. Wednesday was another day in the 50s with mostly cloudy skies.

Friday morning we received 6/10 inch of rain/ snow mix, mostly melting as it hit the ground. Our grandson, Josiah Melton, turned 21 last week and will be graduating May 15 from Wichita State University with a major in Marketing Real Estate.

TERRY ODLE OF STOCKTOn recently attended the Pink Rose Scholarship Dinner sponsored by Kansas State University’s Alpha Gamma Rho (AGR) fraternity. The event was held on April 10 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Manhattan.

The Stockton Peony Festival plans were discussed at the April monthly meeting of the Stockton Area Chamber of Commerce held on Tuesday, April 13th at Stitch & Chatter. Flyers for the festival are being finalized and will be sent out around Stockton and to area towns by the first of the month.
