The Council of the City of Woodston met in the Council Chamber at the City Hall on Monday, April 12th, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. Council members present were Bill Dibble, Judy Turnbull, Caroline Manis, April Yakish and Annette Paulson.

Luther Wicker 22nd Wisconsin Infantry Regiment Luther Wicker was born in Delaware County, New York, 4 January 1821. He grew up in New York and Vermont.

At the regular meeting of the Rooks County Commission held on Tuesday, May 11th, the commissioners signed Resolution 2021-R6 opposing the National Heritage Area designation program. Several other counties in Kansas as well as in Nebraska have signed similar resolutions.

The Stockton Peony Festival was the topic of discussion at the Stockton Area Chamber of Commerce membership meeting held on Tuesday, May 11th at the Stockton Rodders building. Volunteers are still needed, so anyone wanting to help out should contact Chamber Director Jayne Prockish at the Chamber Office as soon as possible.

The Kansas Department of Transportation has started a field survey for a proposed project to replace the bridge over Spring Creek along U.S. 24 in Graham County.

The Stockton Fire Department responded to two calls on Sunday, May 16th—not for fires, but rather for mutual aid to Plainville, and to assist a motorist during the evening hours. The first call came in at 6:00 a.m.

In the Woodston Alumni article in the May 13th edition, it should have read that the memorial ser-vice to be held on Sunday, May 30th at the site of the old high school will be to honor those alumni who have died since the last meeting held on May 2019.

The children of Richard and Annette Benoit announce their 65th wedding anniversary! Richard and Annette (Brin) Benoit, Damar, were married on May 21st, 1956, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Damar, Kan.
