City approves donation to Stockton Food Pantry

Body
Mike Rogers, representing the Stockton Food Pantry, was at the Stockton City Commission meeting on Tuesday, October 19th to thank the City for letting the Food Pantry utilize the old Scout House. Now that the Food Pantry is in the new location, he returned the Scout House key to the commissioners. He then asked if the City would still pay the electric bill on the building. The Scout House was on City property, and that is why the City paid the bill. Now that it has been relocated, the commissioners decided to make a donation to the Food Pantry instead of paying the utility bill. A donation in the amount of $500.00 from the Oil Revenue Trust Fund to the Food Pantry was approved.

Forage Analysis “I have the sample, now what do I test for or what analysis package should I select?” The basic components that nutritionists need to evaluate a feedstuff or develop a ration are dry matter (DM) or moisture, crude protein (CP), an estimate of the energy content of the feedstuff [Total Digestible Nutrients (TDN), Net Energy for Maintenance (NEm), Net Energy for gain (NEg)], and the macro minerals, Calcium and Phosphorous. These are the most basic numbers that are required, but including some additional analyses in the report can give us additional insight into the quality of the feedstuff or improve our ability to predict animal performance, which is the primary reason we analyze feedstuffs.

County approves wage and salary policy proposal

Body
Deputy clerk Laurie Montgomery met with the Rooks County Commissioners John Ruder, Greg Balthazor and Tim Berland on Tuesday, October 19th to ask if they had any questions about the updated wage and salary proposal she had presented to them several weeks ago. Montgomery requested that they send it to the county attorney to make an amendment to the current work policy. Then the commissioners can officially approve it so it can be in place for the 2023 budget. Later in the meeting the commissioners voted to move forward with updating the policy as presented. The work policy of the presentation will go into effect in 2022 with the scale portion in place for when the commissioners work on the 2023 county budget.

THEOLOGY. It's enough to make people yawn. But not Martin Luther. If anything, the theology of Romans 1:17 stole his sleep. "For in it (the Gospel) the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, 'THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.'" The theological truth causing Luther loss of sleep was the doctrine of justification or salvation. In other words, his soul was uncertain over his prospects of heaven. At one point he wrote, "I hated that word 'righteousness of God,' which, according to the use and custom of all the teachers, I had been taught to understand (that it meant God's) 'active righteousness' ... by which 'God is righteous and punishes the unrighteous sinner.'" Luther had been taught that when the Bible talks about "righteousness" it was essentially talking of God's righteous vengeance being poured out on unrighteous sinners. Luther's wrestling with this theological point caused him to say, "I did not love, yes, I hated the righteous God who punishes sinners." So what was the problem causing him sleepless nights and fierce hatred for God? Luther was desperately trying to serve and please God and yet knew he still had no hope for heaven. Luther genuinely grappled with his sinfulness and mightily strove to stop sinning, but knew he was under God's just judgment. However, the day came when God opened his understanding to the theology of justification. Luther finally understood that God declares a person righteous in His sight when they place their full faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Luther understood that upon trusting in the death of Jesus on the cross, God considered His Son's perfect righteousness to be applied to otherwise imperfect and unrighteous sinners. In response, Luther said, "I felt that I was altogether born again and had entered paradise itself through open gates." Theology matters! Luther sought truth and found it. God sought Luther and found him. Has God found you?

The book in the Bible, Song of Songs, was written by Solomon and offers us a look at a healthy and romantic love. We have a God that loves “love,” so it is only natural that we are made to love others.
