WOE IS ME! Some people tend to see the proverbial cup as being half empty. Others, of course, tend to be more optimistic and see that same cup as half full. However, I like King David's attitude toward life when he wrote in Psalm 23:5, 'My cup runs over.' If we stop and consider all the good that God has blessed us with, most would hopefully say that our cup runs over with God's goodness. It is relatively easy to fall into a self-pity 'Woe is me' mindset.

The Stockton Fire Department responded to four fire calls over a week, beginning with the first call on Sunday, September 17th, at 10:30 p.m. for a mutual aid call from Plainville. However, Plainville called off the mutual aid before Stockton responded.

Talk about two opposites— GodandSatan!This week's message dealt with God's control over everything, including Satan. As Pastor Matt put it, 'Satan is a dog on a leash.' Satan is under God's control. That being said, we also need to understand the power that Satan has in the world.

At the start of the Stockton City Commission meeting held on Tuesday, September 19th, the commissioners approved the Consent Agenda, which included the Solomon Valley Manor gross payroll for $62,242.80, the Solomon Valley Manor warrants for $51,335.28, the City of Stockton warrants for $165,379.01, and the September 5th regular meeting minutes.

Friday, September 1, 2023, the fourth graders from Stockton Grade School went to the Hansen Museum in Logan to look at the LEGO displays. These displays were created by Sean Kenney.

The Natoma Lions Club presented Shawna Dunlap 'Natoma’s Good Citizen of the Year' award during the evening Labor Day Cele-bration, September 4. The Lions members nominated her for providing a positive performance within the community by exceeding expectations in a myriad of tasks.

Beginning this fall, Kansas will have no fall turkey hunting season due to declining populations at state and regional levels. The difficult decision was arrived at by members of the Kansas Wildlife and Parks Commission after hearing compelling recommendations from staff throughout four public meetings.
