LaDonna Rae Schnuerle, age 89, of Stockton, passed away on March 20, 2023, at the Rooks County Health Center. 

She was born on September 13, 1933.  

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 2:30 p.m., at Mount Hope Cemetery in Almena. There will be no public visitation.

Patrick Joseph “Pat” Schmidt, 75, of Alta Vista, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023.

He was born March 20, 1947, in Plainville, the son of Fidelis and Albina (Hammerschmidt) Schmidt.

Pat graduated from Plainville High School in 1965. On September 3, 1966, he was united in marriage to Linda J. Clodfelter, the daughter of Lutie and Betty Clodfelter of Plainville.

After a brief illness, Margaret Rozella Klema McKittrick, 94, of Manhattan, Kansas, died on March 15, 2023, at Bramlage House in Manhattan, Kansas, surrounded by family members.

Marge, as she was known, was born April 19, 1928, in Wilson, Kansas, the daughter of James and Hattie Weinhold Klema.

She graduated from Wilson High School class of 1946. After graduation, she attended Kansas State University and taught Vocational Home Economics for a year in Beverly, three years in Plainville, and a year at Hays Junior High in Hays.

Cleota Mae Dinkel, of Plainville, passed away on March 15, 2023, at Hays Medical Center in Hays at the age of 89.

She was born on January 28, 1934, to Hector and Cecilia (Gagnon) Boucher in Zurich, Kansas. She married Gilbert F. Dinkel in Zurich on April 13, 1953. They were blessed with eight children.

James "Jim" Maley, age 70, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023, at his home in Phillipsburg.

He was born November 26, 1952, in Norton, one of eight children born to Willard and Veda (Boland) Maley in Norton.

He attended grade school in Edmond, Kansas, and high school in Lenora, Kansas, where he graduated in 1971. He attended vo-tech in Goodland, Kansas, where he earned his automotive technician certification. Upon graduation, he accepted a mechanics position with Matteson Motors in Phillipsburg on April 16th, 1973, where he remained employed for over 45 years.

Jolene Ann Leiker, 57, Hays, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at HaysMed.

She was born May 31, 1965, in Hays, the youngest of five children of Edwin Francis and Shirley (Cole) Weigel.

Jolene graduated from Plainville High School in 1983 and attended Fort Hays State University, earning a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education. 

Constance K. Cain, age 84, passed away on March 9th, 2023, at the Holiday Resort in Salina, Kansas.

She was born April 14, 1938, in Plainville, Kansas, to Gladys and Carl Larsen.

Constance spent most of her life as a homemaker. She loved spending time working in her vegetable and flower garden. During the summer, it was nothing unusual for her to can more beets, tomatoes, and many other vegetables than a single person could possibly eat. She also really enjoyed going fishing, spending time with her family, and reading the Bible.

Michael Allen Jr., age 59, of Platteville, Colo., passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2023, from a chronic lung infection. Mike transitioned to heaven peacefully with family members by his side.

Lois Ann (Claycamp) Blass, age 89, passed away at her home on March 7, 2023.

She was born the eldest of six children to Emil and Inez (Diers) Claycamp on January 16, 1934, in Hunter, Kansas.

On November 18, 1950, she was united in marriage with Jim Blass. Seven children were born into this union, Terry, Pat, Mike, Brenda, Barb, Joe, and George.

Lois always worked outside the home, as well as being a dedicated wife and mother. Lois was a friend to everyone. She was very patient with lots of good advice.

Brenda (Stagner) Markley, age 79, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023.

She was born July 28, 1943, to Dale and Daisy (Wise) Stagner in Hays.

Brenda was a woman of strong faith and had a close relationship with her church family. She graduated in 1961 from Plainville High School and went on to cosmetology school in Wichita.

She married Don Markley in 1962 and they later divorced. They had one daughter in 1967. Dana was her mom’s pride and joy!
