Parade of Christmas Trees celebrates 40 years!

The annual Parade of Christmas Trees at the Stockton Public Library celebrates its 40th year! This is one of its best and biggest displays, sporting 42 trees as well as the Angel Tree with the blue and pink angels hanging from its branches.
FORTY-TWO TREES mark the 40th annual Parade of Christmas Trees at the Stockton Public Library this year. The SGS Second Grade, the Blessed Beginnings Center, and the Nova Theatre decorated these trees.

County approves landfill five-year plan and 2025 employee insurance policy

At the Rooks County Commission meeting on Tuesday, November 19th, landfill supervisor Danny Knoll was present to go through the department’s five-year plan during the Public Hearing. After commissioner John Ruder opened the Public Hearing, Knoll went through items in the plan, including state regulations, recycling, and other updates as outlined.

City approves 2025 health insurance policy at meeting

After reviewing the 2025 health insurance policy proposal at the Stockton City Commission meeting on Tuesday, November 19th, the commissioners approved the policy as presented, with changes noted. The cost of the insurance increased 22% from last year.

Lansing man convicted in teen’s fentanyl overdose death following Snapchat drug deal

LEAVENWORTH, Kan.—A 20-year-old man from Lansing, Kansas, has been convicted on a charge stemming from the fentanyl overdose death of a teen who used Snapchat to obtain the drug.

During a plea hearing on Nov. 22, 2024, Torin Michael Baughman pleaded guilty to a single count of Distribution of a Controlled Substance Causing Death – to wit, fentanyl. The court accepted the plea and found him guilty. The charge relates to the January 17, 2023, death of N.C.B. (DOB: x/x/2007), a 15-year-old Leavenworth County teen.
