Sentinel entertains educational visit from the SGS third graders

Body Stockton Grade School students from the third-grade classes of Mrs. Martha Fleck and Ms.Tricia Hemphill walked down to the Stockton Sentinel on Thursday morning. The students were on an educational outing, hoping to learn more about informational writing from the Sentinel staff.

Body Stockton Correctional Facility Corrections Manager Theresa Glendening and Clarene Goodheart are overseeing a community project that not only helps with the recycling of plastic bags, but offers aid and comfort to the homeless.

Teacher of the Year visit held at Stockton

Body Last year, Stockton Grade School second grade teacher Jennifer Kesler and Shane Austin, Agriculture Education, were recognized as the District’s Kansas Teacher of the Year (KTOY) nominees for USD 271 for Region 1.

Stockton firemen attend fire school in Kirwin

Body Eight volunteer fire fighters from the Stockton Fire Department attended a fire school put on by the Kansas Fire Fighters Association in Kirwin over the weekend. The two-day event was held on Saturday, February 5th and Sunday, February 6th.

Commissioners approve County’s Solid Waste Management Plan

Body The Rooks County Commissioners began their weekly meeting on Tuesday, February 1st by approving Plainville High School’s After Prom request. The commissioners will donate $400.00 to each of the County’s three high schools as long as they receive requests from the schools.
