A CONVOY consisting of fourteen loads of hay, two trailers of fencing materials, and a loader went through Stockton late Monday morning en route to Paradise. Our neighbors in Nebraska were lending a helping hand to the victims of the wildfires that struck the area of Paradise on December 15. Among the many towns in Nebraska contributing to the cause were Elm Creek, Holdrege and Overton.

Kansas Geological Survey to measure groundwater levels in western Kansas

A crew from the Kansas Geological Survey, based at the University of Kansas, will be in western Kansas measuring groundwater levels the first week of January 2022. Levels are measured annually as part of a joint project conducted by the KGS and the Kansas Department of Agriculture's Division of Water Resources (DWR) to monitor the health of the state's valuable groundwater resources.

KDOT announces approved November bids

The Kansas Department of Transportation announces approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects. The letting took place Nov. 17, 2021, in Topeka. Some of the bids may include multiple projects that have been bundled based on proximity and type of work.

HCF supports DSNWK residential locations

Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas will be getting new automated external defibrillators (AEDs) thanks to a $7,200 grant from the Heartland Community Foundation. The AEDs will be utilized in four of its residential living locations in Ellis County that serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
