City approves purchase of hydro vac

The Stockton City Commission approved the purchase of a hydro vac from Vermeer for the City at the regular meeting on Tuesday, January 25th. Electric supervisor Cory Carlson was at the meeting to go over the details of the demonstrator model machine, which has a three-year parts and labor warranty This machine will help find and clean out undeground utilities without harming the wires, lines etc. and will be a benefit for several departments. The cost of the hydro vac is in the budget at a total of $51,708.00. Plans to rent out the equipment to other towns is being worked on at this time.

Annual Meeting of Rooks County Conservation District Mon., Feb. 7th

The Rooks County Conservation District’s 74th Annual Meeting will take place on Monday, February 7th, at 6:30 p.m. at the Plainville Grade School Cafeteria. Activities for the evening will include guest speaker Dean Krehbiel, State Resource Conservationist, who will be speaking on “Woody Encroachment.” Featuring a speaker is something new added this year. Also included will be the presentation of the 2021 Bankers Soil Conservation Award by board member Randy Odle and Key banker, Chase Look, of Solutions North Bank of Stockton and the Windbreak Award presented by JD Riffel and Key Banker, Chase Look.

SGS receives special gift

The Stockton Grade School was gifted with a surprise donation of two sets of handmade cedar Lincoln Logs and two sets of fraction blocks from 87-year-old John Will of Halstead, Kansas on Thursday, January 13th.

Commissioners approve annual county insurance renewals

Mark Lowry with Heritage Insurance Group, Inc. was at the regular weekly meeting of the Rooks County Commission held on Tuesday, January 18th to review the annual insurance policies for the County. The insurance covers property, liability, workman’s compensation and buildings. After reviewing the information, with it noted that the courthouse’s value is now $14 million, the commissioners approved the renewals as presented with Heritage Insurance Group, Inc. through EMC.
