Stockton’s 7th-Grade Boys 4 x 100M Relay of Cameron Earl, Pierce Gray, Zeke Balthazor, and Isaac Thayer are the 2022 Mid-Continent Elementary League Champions, capturing the gold medals at the meet held last Tuesday in Hill City. The Relay was the only one to win gold, however, the Tigers made their mark in a number of events in their final meet of the season.

The RoCo Softball Girls fell in their doubleheader to the Minneapolis Lions last Monday at Minneapolis. The Cardinals were defeated in the first game 2-18, and were then on the short end of a 10-0 shutout in the second game. It was the final outing of the regular season with Regionals taking place this week.

Less than six months ago, Rylan Basart didn’t even know if he would be able to compete in his senior track season due to a knee injury during football requiring reconstructive surgery. However, Basart, who will be joining the University of Nebraska—Kearney track and football programs in August, was determined to not let that setback be the end of his high school track career. Basart committed to rehabilitating as hard as he could so that he could at least make it back for the last few weeks of the season.

On May 6, Stockton’s varsity golfers traveled to Hill City for the 2022 Hill City Invitational. The 18-hole tournament was held at Prairie Trails Golf Course. Hill City won their own tourney, shooting a 305. The Ringnecks’ Dylan Budig was the top individual, shooting a 72 on the par 70 course.

The Stockton Tigers varsity golfers were in Hays last Thursday for the 2022 Mid-Continent League Golf Tournament held at Fort Hays State University. Ashton Dowell of Hoxie won the tourney after shooting an 80 on the par 71 course. Mason Gottschalk of Ellis was second with an 81, followed by Ian Fink of Oakley with an 82.

Stockton’s junior varsity golfers traveled to Norton on May 3 for the Norton JV Invitational held at the Prairie Dog Golf Course. The 9-hole, par 35 tourney was won by Northern Valley’s Brody Preston, who shot a 43. TMP won the tournament with a 210 (Best 4), while Stockton was ninth, shooting a 269.
