Edwin Vaden Bunch of Stockton, Kansas, passed away on September 15, 2023, at his home in Stockton.

He was born on February 15, 1955, in Lynchburg, Virginia, to George T. and Helen (Kelly) Bunch. He married Susan Wyant in Richmond, Kentucky on May 25, 1979.

Edwin grew up in Virginia and graduated from Hayfield High School in Fairfax County in 1973. He joined the U.S. Air Force and was an Automatic Tracking Radar Repairman. He then worked for Vega Precision Laboratories as a Test Technician and then for D.C. Metro Rail as a Track Engineer until retirement.

Clarence Richard “Dick” Meitler, 80, passed away September 14, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.

He was born on September 29, 1942, near Sylvan Grove, Kansas, to Clarence W. and Lois Bonnel (Zacho) Meitler.

On December 13, 2008, he was united in marriage to Cynthia Tittel.

He was born on November 10, 1965, to Joseph A. and Edith Ann (Rostocil) Bouchey in Plainville, Kansas. On April 26, 1986, he married his high school sweetheart, Dena Jo Serefko. They were blessed with two children: Emilee and Chevy.

David graduated from Stockton High School in 1984. He worked at the COOP and was a bridge crew supervisor for the Rooks County Highway Department, but his true passion was his occupation as a farmer and rancher.

Garland “Garb” LeRoy Ensley, 100, passed away September 6, 2023, at Medicalodges of Great Bend.

He was born November 11, 1922, in Jefferson, Kan., to Heber T. and Lettie L. (Skinner) Ensley.

As a young boy, Garb learned to weld, working alongside his father in their “Ensley and Son” welding shop in Woodston, Kan. 

In his early twenties, Garb met the love of his life, Evalee M. Cooper, at a skating rink. They were married on June 25, 1947, in Stockton. In 1965, he and Evalee moved the family from Plainville to Great Bend.

John Heman Owen Jr., age 70, Zurich, loving husband, son, and eldest of eight children, passed away Aug. 2, 2023, after a battle with cancer.

John “Butch” Owen was born Sept. 9, 1952, to John and Bessie Owen in Charleston, S.C. Spending much of his youth in South Carolina, he participated in the Sea Cadets. At age 13, the family moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., and then to Aurora, Colo., where he attended Hinkley High School.

Jule WInters, 91, Hill City, passed away on September 2, 2023, at the Graham County Hospital in Hill City, Kansas.

He was born May 30, 1932, in Webster, Kansas, to George and Rose (Folsom) Winters.

Jule attended school in Webster and graduated from Stockton High School in 1950. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Lala on December 13, 1952, in Phillipsburg, Kansas. They had two children: Linda Eileen and Steven Jule. Jule and Betty were married for almost 65 years when Betty passed away in 2017.

Robert Charley “Basswood Bob” Oliva, age 62, tragically lost his life in an automobile accident near his home in Ely, Minn., on Aug. 24, 2023. 

He was born on Sept. 27, 1960, in Plainville to Ruth Lee (Price) and Charley Robert Oliva.

Raised in Russell, Bob was no stranger to adventures with his siblings. From a young age, you could find him making any excuse to visit Lake Wilson to fish or water ski. He continued his passion for the outdoors as a member of the local Boy Scout troop, where he made memories each year, becoming an Eagle Scout in 1979.

Maxine LaNae (McGrath) Rush, 61, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, August 9th, 2023, at the Linn Community Nursing Home in Linn.

She was born to Russell and Heloise McGrath on March 12, 1962, in Clay Center, KS.

Maxine grew up in rural Kimeo, Kansas. She was the youngest of nine children. Some of her fondest memories were from her childhood on her family farm. She was always artistic and enjoyed creating and collecting crafts and antiques. She was a loving grandmother, mother, aunt, cousin, and friend.
