He apprenticed with Werth Heating, Plumbing and Air Conditioning in Hays for the past several years and received his plumbing certification from Northwest Central Kansas Technical College last winter. Meat processing plant coming to Stockton

Body
Jason and Lisa Nyp, and Shane and Jada Vehige (RGN Company, Inc.) were at the Stockton City Commission meeting held on Tuesday, June 2nd to ask the commissioners for access to city water, sewer and electricity for their proposed meat locker and processing plant to be located just outside the Stockton City limits on South Cypress and Seventh/Eighth Street. Jason stated the company had been researching this business venture for quite a while, and after the oil depreciation during the COVID quarantine, they feel now is the time to branch out and encompass this endeavor as part of RGN. He informed the commissioners that they have researched the project thoroughly, and feel they found a niche for the area where people can call in orders to purchase quarter, half or whole orders of quality beef and pork, as well as have their own livestock processed. Plans are to include a warehouse and meat lockers on site, and they are working with the state to help with the design of the building and state regulations. Jason said they will use local contractors during the construction of the building, with the timetable to have it completed by late fall. Nyp stated he wants to invest in the community and make this business a mainstay for the people in the area by being able to offer supplemental employment for retirees and young adults, while continuing to provide jobs for the 17 people/ nine families who are already employed by RGN. The commissioners voted to allow Nyp the tie-in to the City’s water, sewer and electricity lines as requested and invited Nyp to come back to future commission meetings to give updates, as well as continue to work with city manager Courtney Flower and the various departments as they move forward with their business venture.
