There are plenty of prizes donated by the area merchants for baby, mommy and daddy as everyone awaits the arrival of the Stockton Sentinel’s First Baby of 2024 Contest. When that little miss or mister arrives, the parents have four days to notify the Stockton Sentinel to claim the prizes.

Jordan Finnesy named to President’s List at Washburn

Jordan Finnesy of Plainville is among almost 700 students who qualified for the President’s List at Washburn University for the fall 2023 semester. To qualify for the Presiddent’s List, a student must complete at least 12 hours of graded credits and earn a semester grade point average of 4.0.

Commissioners have busy morning session

At the Rooks County Commission meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd, the commissioners met with treasurer Kim Northup and Denise Murchie. After the commissioners signed the paperwork to add commissioner Jake Prockish’s signature to the bank information, Northup announced that she would retire from her position on April 1st, along with employee Terri Moore.

County tax revenues up $306,197.75 from 2022

Rooks County tax revenues continue to bring in more money from its taxpayers. To no surprise to anyone, the biggest increase in the Rooks County’s tax revenue for the 2023 was Real Estate, with an increase of $434,763.02, for a total of $9,201,469.71.
