This week marks six months of publishing the Sentinel-Times since the merger of the Stockton Sentinel and Plainville Times became official at the end of December 2025. Here is what we have learned: 1.

The Rooks County Commission had a short but busy morning at their regular Tuesday meeting on June 9th. They first met with register of deeds, April Brown, who presented them with information about a company she would like to use for her new computer software system.

The Rooks County Commissioners spent most of their morning meeting reviewing the proposed 2027 budgets for the departments, but before turning their attention to the numbers, some business was attended to.

The Heartland Community Foundation recently awarded $156,322.50 to local organizations in Ellis, Rooks, and Trego County during our fall grant cycle. In total, the community foundation helped fund 36 projects—fully funding 13 and partially funding 23.

Wheat harvest is moving steadily across Kansas and throughout Rooks County, although recent rains have created challenges for producers eager to finish cutting this year's crop. Across the state, harvest crews have been working around scattered thunderstorms and periods of wet weather.

The first order of business at the Plainville City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 16th, was the approval of the Consent Agenda, which included the June 2nd regular meeting minutes, the bills paid for $138,153.14, and the Municipal Supply bill paid for $2,264.00.
