Kansas Sunflower State Spelling Bee Held

Ninety-three spellers from across Kansas gathered to showcase their hard work and dedication at the Sunflower State Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 21st. Each student had earned their place by finishing first in their county contest.
DURINGONEOFTHEEARLYROUNDS of the Sunflower State Spelling Bee, Veidyn Holmes took his turn at the microphone. Holmes, a student at Plainville Junior High, represented Rooks County at the Kansas Sunflower State Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 21st. He earned the title of Rooks County Spelling Bee Champion after winning that competition in February.

Plainville City Council approves Iron Insurance policy

After a presentation and update from Iron Insurance, which covers the City's mobile equipment, the Council voted to approve the policy for $13,804.00.

The Heartland Community Foundation is celebrating a milestone 10th annual Match Month, generating an impressive $789,069 in total impact thanks to the generosity of 509 donors across Ellis, Rooks, and Trego counties. Match Month is designed to grow the unrestricted grantmaking funds that support local needs through the Ellis County Legacy Fund, Rooks County Legacy Fund, and Trego County Legacy Fund.
