AG’s office accepting scrap metal dealer registration applications for 2020

Body
Scrap metal dealers now required by state law to register with the attorney general’s office for the first time since 2017 may now begin doing so, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said June 19th. Under the provisions of the 2015 scrap metal law, which were suspended by the Legislature from 2017 to 2019 but have been reinstated for 2020, every “scrap metal dealer” must obtain a registration certificate from the attorney general’s office in order to legally purchase scrap metal in Kansas. The law’s purpose is reducing scrap metal theft in the state.

Stockton landmark gets a facelift!

Body
See J-new l Page Stockton’s only locally-owned fuel and convenience store got a major facelift in the month of June. Local contractor Bellerive Construction installed new concrete siding as well as custom stone manufactured in Hays, while Roger Roy installed a new walkway around the building. The exterior materials and color scheme were replicated from the newly rebuilt J-Mart on the west side of Garden City. Just last fall at J-Mart in Stock Mart’s ok on 10A ton, local petroleum equipment company Westhusing’s Inc. installed brand new fuel dispensers that now accommodate chip cards, JJ Loyalty cards, and touchless payment options such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and the Phillips 66 mobile app.
J-Mart's Outside Building renovation was completed in June through the work of local contractors. New fuel dispensers had been installed last fall.
