At the regular meeting of the Stockton City Commission on Tuesday, October 6th, the commissioners voted to have a four-foot wide square of sidewalk poured by the west entrance of the Thrift Shop. It will be where the old cement loading dock was located.

Serenity Carpenter is a beautiful 10-year-old girl with a big smile and a sweet spirit. Serenity, daughter of Michael and Jordan Carpenter, was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis in 2018 and is preparing to begin stem cell transplant treatments at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

Commission met with the area school superintendents, health officials, law enforcement and other members of the community in a Zoom meeting during their weekly session held on Tuesday, September 29th.

The bottom line is that Kansans need to respond to the 2020 Census now. The most recent legal action extended the census deadline until the end of October; however, the Census Bureau issued a statement on September 29, 2020 indicating that self-response to the census will end on October 5, 2020.

The farmers have been out in the field cutting soybeans for the past two weeks with 56,000 bushels taken in at the Stockton Farmers Union Elevator as of Monday, October 5th, and 61,000 bushels taken in at the Woodston Coop.
