Short agenda, but busy meeting for county commissioners

The first order of business for the Rooks County Commissioners on Tuesday, February 13th, was a meeting with noxious weed supervisor Mike Klein. The commissioners signed the 2024 Management Plan and the annual Noxious Weed Eradication Progress Report, as presented by Klein.

Teams earn some hardware!

The Stockton FFA Meats Judging contest was held in Grinnell on Saturday, February 3rd, at the Grinnell Locker. When it was all judged and done, the Stockton FFA Senior team AND Greenhand team placed first in both divisions!

Stockton grade school math curriculum discussed

At the regular Stockton USD 271 Board of Education meeting held on Monday, February 12th, many parents and citizens of the town attended the meeting when the grade school teachers gave an overview of the Tang math curriculum the teachers use in the lower grades.

Human skeletal remains found in Lansing

LEAVENWORTH COUNTY – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Lansing Police Department are conducting a death investigation after human remains were found near a creek in Lansing.

Commissioners hold short meeting

The Rooks County Commission meeting was held on Tuesday, February 6th, with highway supervisor Eric Biggs first giving his report to start the morning session. Biggs informed the commissioners that the graders have all been serviced, and all four loaders are up and running.
