Hello from Topeka. Praise the Lord for the rain. While it was quite a bit, we should never discourage precipitation in our area. The rain will bring along the wheat crop and give some muchneeded sub soil moisture to the soon-to-be spring planted crops.

The Kansas Department of Transportation planned to begin work on a shoulder improvement project along a portion of U.S. 281/24 near Osborne the week of March 15, weather permitting.

The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture provides technical and financial assistance to help Kansas farmers and livestock producers recover from damages brought on by winter storms Uri and Viola.

Annie and Bobby Pitts of Dana Point, Calif., are happy to announce the birth of their first child, a baby girl. She was born at 10:22 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2021 and has been named Wilma Jean Pitts. She weighed 9 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 21 inches long.

Last Sunday the temperature reached the high 40s with a sunny sky. Monday, the temperatures were in the mid 50s with an abundance of sunshine. Tuesday was a warm, sunny day with highs in the upper 60s. Wednesday, the mercury made it to just a little over 70 degrees with mostly sunny skies.

It is often said that each of us longs to be someone else. We may desire to be famous. We may desire to be a sports hero. Or, we may wish that we were more attractive, more intelligent, or wealthier. Often, it is these desires that can lead us into sin by trying to be someone we are not.

KATE HANSEN was the top award winner at this year’s Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, held on Wednesday, March 3rd. Her business, Spread Kindness, makes bath bombs and shower steamers with kind messages in each one.
