Body There will be a regular USD 271 Board of Education meeting on Monday, February 1st, beginning at 5:30 p.m., at the District Office.

Body The Stockton Fire Department was called out on Friday, January 22nd at 1:20 p.m. for a grass fire at N and 22 Roads. The fire started from a bale pickup, which caught the grass on fire.

Body Cory and Audrey Rahjes of Kensington are happy to announce the birth of their first child, Lola Kaye Rahjes, born December 26, 2020, at Smith County Memorial Hospital in Smith Center. She arrived at 10:15 p.m. and weighed 8 pounds, 10.6 ounces, and was 20.5 inches long.

Body STOCKTON HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR ISAAC REED was recently recognized for his place on the 2021 Mid-Continent League All-Academic Team. Reed was among the group of 34 who was named to the Team, but was the only student from Stockton.

Body Washburn University has announced its President's List honorees for the fall 2020 semester. To qualify for the President's List, a student must complete at least 12 hours of graded credits and earn a semester grade point average of 4.0.

Body Six area college students attending Washburn University have been named to the fall 2020 Dean’s List. To qualify for the Dean’s list, a student must be enrolled in 12 hours of graded credits and earn a semester grade point average of 3.4 to 3.99.

Body Starting off the regular weekly meeting of the Rooks County Commission held on Tuesday, January 19th, was a meeting with noxious weed director Mike Klein. Klein presented the commissioners with the annual KDOT contract with the County.
