DURING THE STOCKTON SCHOOL’S OPEN HOUSE on August 16, River Valley Church gave away 48 backpacks, which were filled with supplies, to the junior high students from USD No. 271. The students received the backpacks on a first come-first serve basis.

Jerry Clarke, owner of the Ness County News: “I read the article in your paper about the Linotype and found it very interesting. My dad, John Clarke, learned how to type on that very machine while working for my grandfather, D.C. Clarke, who owned the Times before selling it to Harlan Lill.”

The Kansas Geological Survey reported another minor earthquake in southwest Rooks County late Sunday evening, August 14. The 2.0-magnitude quake was recorded at 11:30 p.m.

THE CLASS OF 1972 met on Saturday, August 13, at the VFW in Stockton for their 50th Class Reunion.

MEMBERS OFTHE STOCKTON HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1977 gathered at Mott Steak & Chop on Saturday, August 6, for their 45th Class Reunion.

It is said that man can go 40 days without food, three days without water, eight minutes without air, but not even one minute without hope. And while no one would ever want to go without any of these four things, it is our daily hope in Jesus Christ that sustains us.

SEVERAL OF THE LIFEGUARDS got in on the action and joined in the relay races at Stockton’s 150th birthday celebration at the Stockton City Swimming Pool on Sunday, July 24. Prizes included money, candy bars and water bottles.
