LINDA MELTON started her Mother’s Day poppies from the seeds she brought from her mother’s farm in Dickinson County when she and Steve were first married in 1969. She has had poppies since then and has let the delicate orange flowers spread all over her garden.

Tank battery fire caused by lightning Monday

The Stockton Fire Department was called out on Monday, May 6th, in the early afternoon, just before a thunderstorm covered the area with heavy rain and small hail. Lightning had hit a tank battery one-half mile north on 8 Road from J Road.
