Stockton Utilities is adding a new 360-horsepower Fairbanks Morse engine to the power plant’s equipment. The new engine was purchased a couple of weeks ago and will replace the old De LaVerne engine that occupies the south portion of the engine room.

The patrons of the Central Branch of the Missouri Pacific can now ride on one of the new gas trains. Wednesday forenoon, without previous announcement, the new motor train pulled into Stockton.

Word has just been received from Congressman Charles Sparks that the Veterans Bureau has allowed Mrs. Catherine Livingston of Stockton the adjusted service benefits for the death of her son, George C. Livingston, while he was in the service of his country during the World War.

The Efficiency Stores Company, with headquarters in Fairbury, Nebraska, is starting a closeout of its entire chain of stores. The company has many stores in Kansas and Nebraska.

Last week, the Review-Record celebrated its Golden Jubilee, marking the close of a half-century of service to the people of the Stockton community. The paper has been in continuous publication since December 1879 and has been published under the ownership of but two individuals.

Rev. J. M. Mason, pastor of the Webster M. E. Church, is making a marked improvement from his injuries received in a car accident some weeks ago. He is in the Asbury Hospital in Salina. The accident occurred near Toronto, Kansas.

There are no Rooks County Record newspapers for the last few weeks of 1925, so there will not be a “98 Years Ago” column for the remainder of the year. We hope to start up again in January..

Tom McCue had a little experience with a misbehaving car last Friday that gave him a thrill, with plenty of fright.

Superintendent L. H. Brewster of the Plainville schools and his entire faculty of teachers were in Stockton last Saturday attending the county teachers meeting. Mr. Brewster is a strong educator, a likeable gentleman and is giving his school pleasing satisfaction.

Mrs. Noah Myers of this city recently received a clipping from the Colorado Springs newspaper, giving a description and photo of a large boa constrictor in which her son, Harry Laird, had a part in the story.
