Virgi’s Views On This ‘n That
This And That
* Yes, another contestant on Wheel of Fortune added the word “and” in the puzzle and didn’t win. People are so upset about this and feel the person should have won, but I say, “Those are the rules!” You say exactly what’s on the board if you want to win, nothing more, nothing less! Quit making it easy for people to win.
* Loved the pretty snows we have had recently. But it can stop now and get on with spring!
* I was talking to someone recently and he had asked why the Nova Theatre had changed the movie times to 7:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. from 7:30 .m. and 2:30 p.m. The decision was made because movies are just getting longer and longer, so the Nova Board bumped up the show times by half an hour so kids and volunteers weren’t getting home so late at night.
* And speaking of the Nova, hopefully—with both of my fingers crossed—the studios will finally be scheduling new movie releases by the end of May. So in the meantime, the Nova will be filling in some of the May weekend slots with two classics, “The Wizard of Oz” and “Grease.” See you at the movies!
* Yes, I was one of the people in the audience at the SHS spring music program who dressed up in Disney attire! Don’t worry, I kept it to a minimum with just an Eeyore shirt and my Captain America socks!
* It’s hard getting eight hours of sleep, so I am pretty happy when I do get that much sleep, even if it does take me two or three nights to accomplish the feat.
* I don’t know how this happened but I am the center piece brownie person and my daughter loves the edge pieces!
* I finally purchased a new lawn mower after struggling for the past few years with my old one. The front left tire was always falling off. But now that the new shiny red one is parked in the garage and ready to go, I can’t seem to get rid of the old one. So I am keeping it.
* Love this! “I lost my pizza cutter, so I used a Brian Adams CD. It cuts like a knife.”
* This Saturday is the Kentucky Derby, billed in the United States as the “Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports.” Since the first “Running of the Roses” in 1875, only two of the winning horses have ever recorded a time less than two minutes. Secretariat, who won the race in the record time of 1.59 2/5, which still stands today; and Monarchos, who won the Derby in 2001 with a time of 1.59.97. And I think it should be noted that Sham, Secretariat’s rival throughout the two horses’ racing careers, had a time of 1.59.90, the second fastest ever recorded, but it does not count because he did not win.
