This and That
* I smell pumpkin spice!
* And speaking of pumpkin spice and everything Autumn and Halloween, on August 22nd my sister and I were in a few stores looking for their Halloween aisles. We couldn’t believe that they had very little out or nothing on the shelves pertaining to our favorite time of the year!
* I read about this trick for roasting s’mores and I can’t wait to try it. Stick some chocolate chips in the middle of your marshmallow before cooking it on an open fire. The chocolate will melt while the marshmallow is turning that delicious golden brown! You can still put your Hershey’s chocolate bar on the graham cracker, but this delicious little tidbit will just kick it up a notch!
* Kuddos to the Rooks County Free Fair Board! I thoroughly enjoyed the free music every night under the Solutions North Bank Pavilion. My kiddos LOVED the inflatables, and who doesn’t eat a whimpy burger and funnel cake as their main meals throughout Fair week?
* Thank you Pattie Jackson for going the extra mile to find out who was in the picture someone found in one of the old photo books I had donated to the Thrift Store. Thank you for returning the picture of my sweet daughter and my dad. It brought back a lot of memories of a special vacation!
* “Believe it or not, I’m walking on air, I never thought I could feel so free—Flying away on a wing and a prayer, who could it be? Believe it or not, it’s just me!” One evening just for fun, one of the band members who performed at the Fair just started singing the theme song from the old TV series “The Greatest American Hero.” We all enjoyed that blast from the past! I loved that show, and who didn’t love our favorite hero, William Katt?
*The release day for the fourth season of the TV series “Yellowstone” has been set. Mark down Sunday, November 7th on your calendars!
* “Bye, Bye Love” It is with a sad heart that I tell you Don Everly of the singing duo, The Everly Brothers, passed away. Don and his brother Phil sang Top Ten Hits back in the early ‘60s including, “Wake Up Little Susie,” “All I Have To Do Is Dream,” and “Cathy’s Clown.”
