A car/deer accident is this week's only Rooks County Sheriff's Department accident report. On Friday, September 1, at 8:28 a.m.,Landon Mitchell Becker, 26, of Stockton, was driving west on Highway 24 when a deer came out of the south ditch and into the 2017 GMC Sierra Pickup Truck he was driving.

On Thursday, August 10, at 2:20 p.m., Carter Tuttle, 20, Natoma, was traveling westbound on P Road, in a 2000 Toyota Tacoma owned by Brennan Taylor Foster of Natoma, when the washboards on a curve caused Tuttle to lose control.

A hit & run begins this week's accident reports from the Rooks County Sheriff's Department, along with more deer finding motorists along roads in the county. On Thursday, July 27, at 1:30 p.m., Karen Ann Werner, 61, Plainville, was westbound in a 2023 Audi A3 on K-18 Highway about 100 feet west of 7 Road between Palco and Zurich when she met a white pickup truck traveling east.

A mixed bag of accidents reported in county

This week’s report of accidents from the Rooks County Sheriff’s Department were a mixed bag. Along with the usual deer entering the roadways, there were multiple rollovers, and lug nuts coming loose from a tractor trailer and striking an oncoming vehicle. While some did result in injuries, it could have been much, much worse.

Those four-legged animals— in the way of deer and a raccoon—continue to be a menace to drivers in Rooks County and make up this week's accident reports from the Rooks County Sheriff's Department. On Sunday, March 19th, at 6:17 p.m., Justin Lain Boden, 43, of Hays, was southbound in a white 2006 Hummer HU3 when a deer jumped in front and struck the vehicle he was driving.
