From mid-June 1916 through early March 1917, the question of a new courthouse for Rooks County was being discussed. Rooks County was the only county in the Sixth Congressional District and the Thirty-fourth Judicial District that still needed to build a modern up-to-date courthouse. In February 1917, Stockton businessmen began discussing the matter of donating a suitable site for the purpose of building a new courthouse. It was decided to donate a location closer to the business section of Stockton if the county commissioners decided to build.

Many people like the Old Testament due to its narrative style and the emphasis on the lives of various people rather than the more doctrinal emphasis found especially in the New Testament epistles. As we read of events in the lives of various people that God included in His Word, we can relate and make spiritual application to our own lives today.
