News From Lowell Township

Body A good shower brought a welcome half-inch of rain during the night on Monday, July 10. Last Friday afternoon, a small hurricane-type storm blew through, dumping .80 in our gauge with wind, and moved south and east. Once again, the creek and terraces had water.

Area harvest update

Body As of Monday, July 10th, the Stockton Farmers Union Elevator has taken in 155,000 bushels of wheat, and the Woodston Coop has taken in 87,000 bushels of wheat. The protein remains strong, with the test weights dropping due to the recent rains.

Body Wheat harvest is still lingering in this area, and the northwest has yet to get a good start for the showers. Early Saturday, July 1, we received 2.60, another .20 over the 4th holiday, and .15 Saturday evening, July 8.

Body First Christian Church held the ordination ceremony for our new pastor, Matt MacConnell, on Sunday. We welcome Matt, his wife Savannah, and their three children to our church family. Matt’s father, Ben, delivered the sermon for this special occasion.
