STUFF. Benjamin Franklin must have been quite an interesting guy. He's a well-known wise guy due to having made many sage statements throughout his life. One of those statements is, 'Dost thou love life? Then do not squander Time; for that's the Stuff Life is made of.' Squander means 'to waste in a reckless and foolish manner.' Most Christians would profit by heeding Franklin's adage. Consider two biblical observations about life. Life is short. It was suffering Job who wrote, 'My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle' (Job 7:6). He also wrote, 'Now my days are swifter than a runner; They flee away, they see no good. They pass by like swift ships, Like an eagle swooping on its prey' (Job 9:25-26).

The family of Ken and Ruth Roy request a Card Shower to help them celebrate their 90th birthdays. Ruth turned 90 years young on February 6th, and Ken will reach the milestone on February 23rd.

CHOICES. As the saying goes, 'Life is full of choices, so choose wisely.' The Lord Jesus put forth the spiritual truth that, ultimately, there are only two choices in life. He exhorted the Jews, saying, 'Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and few find it' (Matthew 7:13-4). The Lord knew that all Jews in His day desired eternal life. In fact, they mistakenly believed that they possessed eternal life simply because they were descendants of Abraham. But Jesus commanded them, saying, 'Enter through the narrow gate.' One gate and one road lead a person to eternal life. Jesus Himself said, 'I am the door' (John 10:9). He also stated, 'I am the way/road' (John 14:6). Yet the world still believes that 'All roads lead to God and heaven.' Sadly, according to Jesus, most people choose the wrong door that leads to the wrong road and takes people to the wrong destination.

Pastor Matt MacConnell has been working with our congregation for the last several weeks on what is necessarytoGrowinGrace and Knowledge, based on the instructions in 2 Peter 3:18 which states, “But grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”We have talked of grace and spiritual knowledge. This week, our goal was to look at biblical knowledge.

The Hobart Homemakers FCE group met Monday, January 22, 2024, at 7 pm at the Stockton Church of the Restoration. The meeting was called to order, and the roll call was, 'What activities did you do when snowed in?' Seven members answered it.
