Plainville swears in new mayor and council members

At the City of Plainville Council meeting, held on Tuesday, January 20th, city administrator/clerk Jim Mesecher swore in new mayor Tom Nuckols and council members Travis Dixon and Skylar Rudman at the start of the evening session.

Corbyn Glendening wins Stockton’s Spelling Bee

Corbyn Glendening, an eighth-grade student at Stockton Grade School, has once again emerged as the Spelling Bee Champion. The competition, held on Wednesday, January 21st, saw Corbyn clinch her second consecutive title by correctly spelling the word 'raise.
Representing Stockton at the Rooks County Spelling Bee in Plainville on Tuesday, February 3rd are champion Corbyn Glendening, runner-up Olivia Brassfield, Kynlee Collins, and Hudson Kriley.

Rooks County sees decline in court cases for 2025

For the first time since 2021 and 2022, Rooks County experienced a notable decline in court case filings, dropping by 99 cases compared to the previous year. In the two previous years to 2025 (2023 and 2024), the number of court cases filed increased by 84 in 2023 and 227 in 2024.
