The Board of Directors of the Kansas Association of Elementary School Principals (KAESP) has announced the 2020 National Distinguished Principal Honoree. Mrs. Stacey Green, Stock ton’s Elementary Principal, has been chosen to represent the State of Kansas as this year’s National Distinguished Principal. Stacey was surprised with the announcement when Stockton Superintendent Bill Lowry asked her come to the District Office on Friday, April 10th. Little did she know that her family was there to celebrate with her when the KAESP Board of Directors held a Zoom meeting announcing the honor! Mrs. Green will now be invited to

SHS Class of 2020 to hold graduation ceremony Sat., July 11th, in high school gym

Stockton High School Senior Class Sponsor Bobbi Basart announced this Friday morning the SHS Class of 2020 graduation ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 11th, at 7:30 p.m., has been moved from Tiger Stadium to the Stockton High School Gym.

Triple-digit temperatures are being forecast from Thursday to Sunday next week, which precipitated the change.

Hand sanitizer and social distancing will be used. The school asks the public to wear masks.

Six cases of COVID-19 in Rooks County

Rooks County has a total of six cases of COVID-19 at this time. This new case, reported on April 25, is related to another case. The current count is as follows: New Cases 1, Active Cases 4, Recovered Cases 1, Total Cases 6.

Active cases: As determined by the local health department. Patients are currently in isolation, have had continuous communication with the local health department.

With USDA approval, Kansas moves one step closer to commercial Hemp Program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced April 16th that it has approved the plan submitted in January by the Kansas Dept. of Agriculture to regulate a Commercial Industrial Hemp Program in Kansas. This approval is a critical formal step in the process to establishing the new commercial hemp program; however, the program will not be active in Kansas until completion of the process for adoption of rules and regulations.

Sen. Jerry Moran announces $325 million to Kansas hospitals & health care providers

U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) announced Friday, April 10th, $325 million in relief funding to Kansas health care providers and hospitals. This information was confirmed to Sen. Moran by Vice President Mike Pence this morning. The funding, which will support hospitals fighting COVID-19 on the frontlines, is part of the $100 billion provider relief fund established in the Phase III Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and is being administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
