Rooks County has a total of six cases of COVID-19 at this time. This new case, reported on April 25, is related to another case. The current count is as follows: New Cases 1, Active Cases 4, Recovered Cases 1, Total Cases 6.

Laura May Klein passed away on April 21, 2020 at her home in Plainville at the age of 92.

She was born on August 3, 1927 to Otto and H. Katie (Grauerholz) Wachs in Phillips County, KS. Laura married Ralph “Pete” Klein on April 23, 1950 in Kensington. They were blessed with five children: Suzanne, Mike, Mitch, Mark, and Trish.

A Rooks County man has been charged with second degree intentional murder and criminal possession of a firearm, Kan sas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.
