LAURA MAY KLEIN

Laura May Klein passed away on April 21, 2020 at her home in Plainville at the age of 92.

She was born on August 3, 1927 to Otto and H. Katie (Grauerholz) Wachs in Phillips County, KS. Laura married Ralph “Pete” Klein on April 23, 1950 in Kensington. They were blessed with five children: Suzanne, Mike, Mitch, Mark, and Trish.

Laura grew up in Phillips County and graduated from Kensington High School. She went on to work as a beautician until she and Pete began their family and she stayed home to love and care for them. After they were grown, she began helping as a sub-rural route mail carrier and later became the permanent carrier.

Laura is survived by her children, Suzanne Veatch of Palco, Mike Klein of Plainville, Mitch Klein of WaKeeney, Mark Klein of Ellsworth, and Trish Taylor Brad of Hays; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Katie Wachs; husband, Pete Klein; and brothers, Fred, Rex, and Ray Wachs.

A private graveside service will be held due to COVID-19.
