For the last two weeks there have been no Rooks County Commission meetings due to the Tuesday, November 3rd regular meeting date falling on Election Day, and the November 10th regular meeting date canceled due to COVID.

As of Tuesday morning, November 10th, the Stockton Farmers Union Elevator has taken in a total of 606,000 bushels of milo and 173,000 bushels of corn. The Woodston Coop has taken in 175,00 bushels of milo and 407,000 bushels of corn. Woodston is still taking in quite a bit of corn at this time.
As it stands, the 2020 fall harvest is approximately 89% of last year’s crop, and 110% of a five-year average.
Due to the Veterans Day holiday falling on Wednesday this week, subscribers to the Stockton Sentinel will receive their paper a day late. With the post office being closed on Wednesday, the newspaper will not go out until Thursday, making its arrival at your address a day later than usual.
It should be noted that there will be no interruption to those who get their newspaper from the stand outside our office, over the counter or online.

Connie left our world on the morning of November 7, 2020, and she will be missed. The world was a far better place with her in it.
Connie was born the second child of Velma and Kirby Hunt. She had an older brother, Lewis, whom she adored. Her parents and brother preceded her in death.
