Phillips County Sheriff’s officer makes heroic rescue in fiery crash

PHILLIPS COUNTY—Last Wednesday, Nov. 4, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Deputy John Miner stopped to assist a disabled motorist on Highway 383, midway between Woodruff and Long Island. Pulling in behind two stopped vehicles, Miner activated the emergency lights on his sheriff’s patrol pickup truck. Two families, a total of seven people in two pickup trucks, with the disabled truck towing a trailer as the occupants were moving from Wisconsin to Arizona, were passing through northwest Phillips County.
