Rooks County continues to see a decrease in new COVID-19 cases throughout the county. This week, the absenteeism rate is at 0.8% above the baseline from 2019-2020. The positive testing rate is at 13.0% this week. Rooks County continues to receive weekly allocations of the COVID-19 vaccine and will follow the Kansas Vaccination Phases. Rooks County is currently in Phase 2.

Helen Marie Breckenridge, age 93, of Independence, Mo., peacefully left this earthly life on March 1, 2021, surrounded by family.

Helen was born October 21, 1927, in Kansas City, Missouri to Vena and Lester Jones.

A Memorial Service for former Woodston and Norton resident, Velma Mae Grimes, age 89, Westmoreland, has been set for Saturday, March 20th, 2021, at the Woodston United Methodist Church beginning at 1:00 p.m.

She passed away Monday, December 21, 2020, at the Onaga Community Hospital in Onaga.

Velma was born on November 28, 1931, at home in Paradise Kansas, the daughter of ArneyLee and Maude Louise (Dwinelle) Hoopes.  

This new live-action/ computer-animated slapstick comedy is based on the characters created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Tom gets kicked out by his owners along with his longtime rival Jerry. Now homeless, the cat and mouse duo are left wandering in the streets and decide to call a truce to their rivalry before going their separate ways. The two later cross paths in Manhattan where Jerry has taken up residence in the city’s largest, exquisite and finest hotel, causing all sorts of trouble.
