Clyde Duane Reed, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and dedicated civil engineer, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, at the age of 92, at home in Torrance, California. He was born in Stockton, Kansas, on September 26, 1932, to Willis Dale and Winnie May (Anderson) Reed. Clyde’s remarkable life spanned nearly a century of change, from riding a pony to a one-room schoolhouse to utilizing modern technology.

Edna Bernice Frenzl, age 89, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at her home.

She was born on April 7, 1936, in rural Graham County, Kansas, to Henry and Mable (Rolland) Kolste. She married Lawrence “Larry” Frenzl on August 29, 1952, in Bentonville, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on August 8, 2012.

Carlene (Barlow) Bryant, of Stockton and formerly of Quinter, passed away on July 21, 2025, at the Logan County Senior Living in Oakley, Kansas, at the age of 75. 

Carlene was born on November 29, 1949, to Robert “Joe” and Ruth (Stephenson) Barlow in Amarillo, Texas. Carlene graduated from Spring Woods High School in Houston, Texas, in 1968. She continued her education at Texas Tech University, where she received her degree in Education.

Racist graffiti amid vandalism at Kansas Catholic school

BARTON COUNTY—Law enforcement is investigating vandalism at a school in rural Barton County. Just after 5:00 p.m., on Thursday, July 10th, the Barton County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to St. Anne’s Catholic School in the rural Barton County community of Olmitz, located approximately 17 miles northwest of Great Bend, for a report of vandalism, according to Sheriff Brian Bellendir. Deputies found the school had been broken into.
