Robert Edward Struckhoff, age 80, of Athol, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Smith Center Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born in Denver, Colorado, on November 25, 1942, to Eddie and Geneva Struckhoff. Bob was the first of six children.

Bob graduated from Kensington High School in 1960. He married Barbara Norton on June 24, 1962, in the United Methodist Church of Franklin, Nebraska. To this union, two boys were born, John Edward Struckhoff and James Jay Struckhoff.

The menus for the week beginning Monday, December 12, are as follows: Monday—Swiss steak with tomatoes, rice, green beans, bread, mandarin oranges. Tuesday—Ham and beans, coleslaw, cornbread, pineapple. Wednesday—Hamburger patty with lettuce, tomato and onion, potato salad, bun, applesauce. Thursday—Chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, peas and carrots, bread, strawberry shortcake. Friday—Baked fish, macaroni and cheese, mixed vegetables, bread, tropical fruit.

Eugene “Gene” Bernard Hamel

Eugene “Gene” Bernard Hamel was born January 16, 1938, in Chewelah, Washington. He was the third child born to Albert and Rosa (Desaire) Hamel. He died November 29, 2022, in Stockton, Kansas. He lived a full life, 84 years of memories filled with family, faith, military, farming, and teaching. His family had moved to Washington to help Gene’s uncle in the forestry business. But after a short time, they returned to their Damar, Kansas roots and settled on a farm a few miles north of Damar nestled on the banks of the South Solomon River.
