Deborah Ann (Berland) Pfannenstiel, 75, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by love from her family.

Debbie was born on January 15, 1951, in Stockton, Kansas, to Alverize and Blanche (Kerr) Berland. She graduated from Palco High School in 1969 and, on June 12, 1971, married the love of her life, Linus Pfannenstiel. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, hard work, and service to others.

A Celebration of Life Service for David John “Big D” Koehler, 78, Plainville, will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the VFW, 105 S. Jefferson St. in Plainville. Big D cherished his family and friends, and nothing would have brought him more joy than seeing them gathered together, sharing stories in remembrance. County-wide burn ban in effect

A special session was called by the Rooks County Commission on Thursday, March 12th, for the purpose of issuing a county-wide burn ban effective from 8:15 a.m. on Thursday morning, March 12th to 12:00 noon on Tuesday, March 17th, due to the high winds, low humidity, and no rain in the forecast. The Resolution will be posted on the County’s website.
