Deborah Ann (Berland) Pfannenstiel
1951 - 2026
Deborah Ann (Berland) Pfannenstiel, 75, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by love from her family.
Debbie was born on January 15, 1951, in Stockton, Kansas, to Alverize and Blanche (Kerr) Berland. She graduated from Palco High School in 1969 and, on June 12, 1971, married the love of her life, Linus Pfannenstiel. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, hard work, and service to others.
Debbie dedicated many years of her life to being a homemaker, and for 33 years, she owned The Bingo Haus in Hays, Kansas, which she ran with Linus; served as the Damar City Clerk; and was the friendly face of the Peach Fam summer fruit sales.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved being part of a large family and shared her joy, laughter, and hospitality with her siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who felt like family. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who lovingly called her “Mème.” In her free time, Deborah enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball, reading, playing dominoes and games, and chatting on the telephone with family and friends.
Deb was deeply involved in community life, an active parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar, and a devoted member of the St. Anne Altar Society.
Deborah is survived by her husband, Linus Pfannenstiel; her daughter Tara (Michael) Morrow, Wichita; son Adam (Clista) Pfannenstiel, Wichita; and daughter Amy (Tracy) Dible, Wichita; nine grandchildren Jackson (fiancé Kena) Morrow, Emporia; Jacob Pfannenstiel; Luke Morrow; Madisyn Dible; Isabella Pfannenstiel; Brooks Morrow; Holden Dible; Landon Pfannenstiel; and Graeden Dible, all of Wichita; and great-grandson Jace “JJ” Morrow, Emporia; her sisters Carolyn (Ken) Dreiling, Manhattan; Roberta Bandt, Erie, Colo.; her brothers Paul Berland, Manhattan; Vince (Laurita) Berland, Abilene; Bryan (Karen) Berland, Guthrie, Okla.; and sister-in-law Lorraine Berland, Damar.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alverize and Blanche Berland; brothers, Harlan Berland and Doug Berland; sisters-in-law, Sandra Berland and Sandy Berland; and brothers-in-law, Leo Dreiling and Lee Bandt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026. A Rosary and visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22nd at 6:30 p.m., both at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar.
The family suggests memorials be made in Deb’s honor to St. Joseph Catholic Church (107 Oak St, Damar, KS 67632) or to the prolife group at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School-Eagles for Life (8101 West Central, Wichita, KS 67212).
Contributions and condolences can also be sent to Stinemetz Funeral Home (522 N. Pomeroy Ave., Hill City, KS 67642).
