Paradise Creek Festival & Rodeo Returns June 12-14 with Full Weekend of Fun
The annual Paradise Creek Festival will return to Plainville June 12-14, bringing a full weekend of entertainment, community activities, food, competitions, and family-friendly events to the community. Organizers have planned a packed schedule that includes rodeo action, a parade, live music, games, vendors, tournaments, and numerous activities for all ages.
The festivities begin Friday, June 12, with the Plainville Saddle Club Rodeo at 6:30 p.m. at the rodeo grounds east of town on Highway K-18. Admission is $10 for ages 13 and older, $5 for children ages 6-12, and free for children age 5 and under. Later that evening, country music artist Logan Mize will perform at the Handle-Bar Tavern beginning at 9:30 p.m.
Saturday's activities get underway early with the Lions Club Pancake Feed from 6:30 to 10 a.m. at the VFW Post 8871. Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy food and drink vendors, a pie sale sponsored by the RCH Auxiliary, small business vendors, a lemonade and ice cream stand, Mia's Cotton Candy Cart, and a variety of children's activities.
The Plainville Recreation Commission will host Kids Games and face painting during the morning hours, while a Kids Scavenger Hunt, PHS Cheer Water Splat, and Minnow Races will provide additional entertainment for youngsters. A Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest, sponsored by the Plainville Memorial Library, will also take place Saturday.
One of the highlights of the weekend will be the annual Paradise Creek Festival Parade, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday. This year's parade theme is 'Red, White & Plainville.' Participants will line up at Plainville High School beginning at 9:45 a.m.
Following the parade, families can enjoy a Touch-A-Truck event featuring large trucks and emergency vehicles, as well as Root Beer Floats sponsored by Girl Scout Troop 10103. Sidewalk sales and Hair Feathers will also be available downtown.
Saturday afternoon activities include open swimming at the Plainville Municipal Pool and a Cornhole Tournament at the East Parking Lot on West Mill Street. The second night of the Plainville Saddle Club Rodeo begins at 6:30 p.m. at the rodeo grounds.
Saturday evening concludes with the return of Street Dance featuring Midnite REPRISE from 9 p.m. until midnight in the 200 block of West Mill Street. A beer garden will also be available, with proceeds benefiting downtown improvement efforts.
The festival wraps up Sunday afternoon with a Pickleball Tournament at Cardinal Gym. Registration is due by 5 p.m. Saturday, June 13, and tournament play begins at 2 p.m. Proceeds from the event will help fund a permanent outdoor pickleball court for the community.
