The October 6th Rooks County Commission meeting began with an executive session with Sheriff Gary Knight, commissioners Jake Prockish, Tracy Rudman, and Tim Berland, commissioner- elect Jon Voss, and deputy clerk Corrina Swaney to discuss non-elected personnel. There was no discussion when they returned to the open meeting.

Next, highway supervisor Tim Colburn, who was hired as the new highway supervisor at the September 30th meeting, presented the commissioners with a $2,294.00 check for deposit from Midland Marketing for the purchase of a culvert.

Colburn reported that the trucks were working on S Road from 21 to 22. The loader was at the pit, and the crews were out patching. The graders were working on roads with washouts from last week's rains, and it was noted that some of the graders worked over the weekend.

The commissioners and Colburn then discussed a road by Hahn's Tire, south of Stockton, and vacating the rightof- way. They will find out the procedure for vacating the road, and Colburn will talk to the surrounding landowners. It was also suggested that the County install a minimum maintenance road sign as an option instead of vacating the road, but nothing was decided at this time. Before Colburn left the meeting, Rudman relayed some washedout roads for him to check out.

Kale Holloway was next on the agenda, with the commissioners calling an executive session to discuss personnel issues. The three commissioners, Holloway and Voss, attended, and they did not discuss the matter further when they returned to the open meeting.

Emergency management director Adam Bryant was present to inform the commissioners that Rooks County EMS is lining up an EMTA class to start in November. He would like to take the class to further his general duties. He noted that the other two taking the class are Stockton City employees, so the classes will be on Wednesdays and Fridays. Bryant asked the commissioners for permission to take the classes and work out his office hours.

Bryant noted that one of the refurbished weather stations has been installed at Webster Reservoir. The other station in Palco is in the process of being installed. The two new weather stations in Stockton and Plainville have been installed.

Treasurer Denise Murchie was in to have the commissioners sign small vouchers for her department. She also asked permission to move some County funds into another money market to get a higher interest rate, which was approved.

Sanitation supervisor Danny Knoll attended the meeting to inform the commissioners that he will start with two loads of railroad ties to be delivered to the landfill. The State is fine with the railroad ties being stacked at the landfill. Knoll also stated that an individual contacted him and is interested in purchasing some of the railroad ties. He will give that person the business's number.

Knoll left after informing the commissioners that the landfill scale work will be done later this fall.

In their reports, Rudman said the Redbud Village Board was working on paperwork. Berland had relayed some road concerns to Colburn.

The remainder of the morning was spent reviewing and signing vouchers.
