The Kansas State Collegian, 2019 Royal Purple yearbook and Manhappenin’ magazine, all part of Kansas State University’s Collegian Media Group, all received Gold All-Kansas rating from Kansas Collegiate Media. The Gold All-Kansas rating is the highest given by the association, which is composed of student media representing both the twoand four-year schools in Kansas.

Close calls in highway work zones occur all too often

Highway construction projects are continuing across the state with modified work practices. And as always, work zone safety is a top priority for the Kansas Department of Transportation, Kansas Turnpike Authority and partner organizations. Bonnie Rubottom of Woodston was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Rubottom was initiated at Kansas State University.

RCH staff member tests positive for Coronavirus

Rooks County Health Center (RCH) is reporting that an employee has tested positive for to the novel coronavirus which can cause COVID-19.

On Tuesday, April14 an RCH employee began feeling unwell during their shift even though the employee had no symptoms when they went through the screening protocol when they arrived for work.

Kansas governor extends stay-at-home directive until May 3

Gov. Laura Kelly on Wednesday extended a stay-at-home order for all Kansas residents for an additional two weeks and called a teleconference with top legislators to consider $17 million in aid for hospitals.

The Democratic governor is keeping the shelter-in-place order in place until May 3, rather than Sunday, as initially planned. She's also continuing to limit in-person worship services and other religious gatherings to 10 or fewer people, despite criticism from the Republican-controlled Legislature.

Teachers Andrea Graham and Lee Lindsey represented Stockton in the 2020 Kansas Teacher of the Year Program

At the April Stockton USD 271 Board meeting, it was announced that grade school teacher Jen Kesler and high school teacher Shane Austin were nominated to represent Stockton for the 2021 Kansas Teacher of the Year Program. As they now step into their roles as Stockton’s representatives for the coming school year, the 2020 nominees, grade school teacher Andrea Graham and high school teacher Lee Lindsey, reflected on their year and the events they attended as representatives of our school district.
STOCKTON TEACHERS Andrea Graham and Lee Lindsey represented USD 271 as its 2020 Teachers of the Year. The two attended many conferences and events throughout the year on behalf of the District.
