It’s not very often that we get to meet and interview someone who is walking across America, but Friday was that day. That’s when we met Erin Dietrich and her husband, Chris Rea, a truly inspirational couple from Bloomington, Minnesota, who are committed to this dream of Erin’s. This is their fascinating story.
ERIN DIETRICH AND CHRIS REA stopped in at the Sentinel office Friday afternoon, and we enjoyed a delightful visit. The couple, from Bloomington, Minnesota, is now at the halfway point of their walk across America, from Delaware to California.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred early Sunday morning if Plainville. The KBI was asked to assist at approximately 1:20 a.m.on Sunday, June 27.

Webster Reservoir remains in an Active “Warning” Advisory for blue-green algae

When the updated list for those Kansas lakes with blue-green algae was sent out to media outlets from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment on Thursday, June 24th, Webster Reservoir remained on the Active “Warning” Advisory list.

Other lakes in the “Warning” Advisory include: Herington Reservoir (new city lake), Dickinson County (new); Marion Reservoir, Marion County; Keith Sebelius Reservoir, Norton County; Jerry Ivey Pond, Salina County; and Big Eleven Lake, Wyandotte County.

County signs annual law enforcement contract with City of Stockton

Sheriff Gary Knight was at the Rooks County Commission meeting on Tuesday, June 15th to present the annual law enforcement contract between the County and City of Stockton. After noting two minor changes, the commissioners approved and signed the contract as presented with Knight to now give the contract to Stockton for their approval.
