Kevin Rush and Treyvonn Clark competed in the Smoky Summer Smash Wrestling Tournament in Lindsborg, and both brought home first-place medals in their weight class. Parker Krob won the Scratch trophy and Owen Brewster won the Handicap trophy at the Rooks County Golf Course Club Championship. Richard Frank Eggers (1949) and Kermit Dean Schindler (1936) passed away.

July 3— Todd Gilliland, owner of Farm Implement and Supply, presented a check to Director of the Plainville Food Pantry Janet Swafford for the Independence Day Picnic. A groundbreaking ceremony took place for the new Middle Income Housing (MIH) home to be built on the site of the old hospital on Colorado Street. Phillips County Deputy Brandon Gaede had lost his life in the line of duty, with area towns honoring him with tributes.

Commissioners refer to County policy for termination

At the Rooks County Commission meeting on Tuesday, January 13th, commissioners Tim Berland, Jake Prockish, and Tracy Rudman met with Ashley Fast about her recent termination from the road and bridge department. Supervisor Eric Biggs and county attorney Danielle Muir were present for the meeting. Fast asked to have her job back. The termination came from the County receiving a call and written documentation from individuals about a road incident involving Fast. According to the County's policy, the termination was warranted as it ultimately comes down to the formal documentation and insurance risk to the County.

The menus for the Senior Centers for the week beginning Monday, January 19, are as follows: Monday—Swiss steak with tomatoes, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, bread, pineapple. Tuesday—Ham and beans, catalina blend vegetables, cornbread, cinnamon apples. Wednesday— Chicken and rice casserole, broccoli salad, bread, peaches. Thursday— Beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, beets, bread, mandarin oranges. Friday—Cook’s Choice.

Crossroads Quilt Guild

The Crossroads Quilt Guild monthly meeting held on November 17th, 2025, was called to order at 6:30 p.m., with refreshments provided by Jennifer Guffey, Jackie Wright, and Terrii Collins. Roll Call was taken with 13 present, and a few show-andtells were presented. The Minutes were received by all present. Linda Gardner made a motion to approve the Minutes as presented, which was seconded by Diane Maddy; the motion carried. Diane Maddy gave the Treasurer's Report. A motion made by Jennifer Guffey to pay Nicole for the use of her shop for meetings, and was seconded by Diane Maddy; motion carried. Sew Days for Plainville had zero, and Stockton didn't have a number. The next Sew Days are as follows: Plainville, December 10th, 2025, and January 14th, and Stockton, December 13th, 2025, and January 10th. There was no Old Business. During New Business, it was decided to make a list of quilts to hang at the Plainville library each month. Arlene Stramel loaned a fall-themed quilt for November. December was a giant snowflake by Terrii Collins. January will be Betty Bedore, and February will be Nikki Meistrell. The remaining months will be decided at theJanuaryguildmeeting. There were no Committee Reports. Announcements were that it was Jackie Wright's birthday. Jennifer Guffey gave information about an organization called Common Threads that helps women in other countries earn money to feed their families and buy things that make life easier for them. They make hexies and sell kits for making a quilt. The next meeting will be January 19th, 2026, with hostesses Toni Anderson, Betty Bedore, Diane Maddy, and Terrii Collins, who are the 2026 officers. A motion was made to adjourn by Betty Bedore and seconded by Connie Haselhorst.— Sent In by Secretary Terrii Collins
