Want to run for a local elected office? Here’s what you’ll make!
Anyone interested in running for one of the Rooks County elected official positions or state position being filled in this fall’s elections may be interested to know what their starting, base salary would be if they were elected.
The deadline of Monday, June 1st is fast approaching to file for one of these offices.
The county attorney’s starting salary would be $4,761.91 per month; county clerk, $3,438.33 per month; county treasurer, $3,438.33 per month; register of deeds, $3,278.02 per month; sheriff, $5,320.88; and county commissioner, $1,739.27.
While we’re discussing salaries, here’s what other county employees are making as a starting wage: clerks, $10.00 to $11.00 per hour; legal secretary, $15.00 per hour; sheriff’s deputies, $16.00 per hour; and road and bridge employees, $12.00.
On top of your salary, you will receive the following benefit package: Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance with Freedom Claims as Administration with a monthly premium paid by the county as follows: single employee, $491.52; employee with one child, $993.72; employee and spouse, $1,055.58; and a family policy, $1,557.78; a $25,000 life insurance policy; KPERS, .0961 (county share); and paid time off as follows: vacation, eight hours per month (four hours as a new employee); sick leave, eight hours per month; personal leave, 16 hours per year (after first year); your birthday off; and 11 paid holidays per year.
District Magistrate Judge
For the local state office, the District Magistrate Judge gets a starting salary of $4,921.58 per month.
