This Tuesday, March 3rd, the voters of USD 270 gathered at the polls to decide the fate of two important bond proposals. After the ballots were counted, only one of the two bond proposals for USD 270 had passed! 

The one passing included Proposition #1...the issuance of which authorizes to issue general election bonds in the amount not to exceed $5,490,000 to pay the costs to construct, furnish, and equip: (a) improvements and renovations to Plainville Elementary School and Plainville High School, including HVAC, electrical, lighting, roof, restroom, and interior and exterior building improvements; and (b) all improvements related thereto; and pay costs of issuance and interest of the Bond during construction of the Project, all pursuant to the provisions of KSA 10-101 et seq., KSA 25-2018(f), KSA 72-5457, and KSA 72-5458 et seq.?

The Yes votes on Proposition 1 were 392 to 263.

On Proposition 2 (general obligation bonds not to exceed $7,055,000), there were 209 Yes votes, to 443 No votes.

A total of 655 of the 1,678 eligible voters living in the USD 270 District voted (30 of them living in Ellis County), for a 39% voter turnout.
