Messages of hope bring smiles to Solomon Valley Manor residents and area businesses
SIDEWALK CHALK MESSAGES: First-grader Shoni Jones decided to leave sidewalk chalk pictures at residences, businesses and at the Solomon Valley Manor after seeing the idea online. She wanted to make people feel happy during this time of social distancing. And doing kind things makes Shoni feel happy, too!
One fun part of this for Shoni was seeing people post pictures of her work on Facebook. Another fun part was the response of the nursing home residents while she and her little sister Melea worked on chalk pictures outside the facility. She liked that they watched, waved and talked to them through the windows.
Shoni, the daughter of Catherine and Travis Jones, isn’t done with her chalk drawings as she plans to do it again on another nice day and she hopes other kids will do it too. So keep a look out for one of Shoni’s masterpieces! Or take a queue from her and decorate a few driveways or sidewalks in your neighborhood!
